If there's one thing you should do while wandering Dubrovnik's Old Town, it's stop for gelato. Whether you're cooling off after a day of sightseeing, taking a stroll along the Stradun, or simply looking for a sweet treat between meals, you'll find no shortage of delicious flavors throughout the city. From classic favorites like pistachio and stracciatella to seasonal fruit sorbets, gelato is a staple of the Adriatic summer experience.

Buža Bar
Perched on the cliffs just outside Dubrovnik's Old Town walls, Buža Bar is one of the city's most iconic spots for a drink with a view. With its simple setting, rocky terraces, and uninterrupted views of the Adriatic, it's the perfect place to pause after exploring the Old Town or to watch the sunset over the sea. Don't expect a traditional beach bar or a full-service restaurant, Buža is all about the atmosphere. Grab a drink, find a spot on the rocks, and enjoy one of Dubrovnik's most unforgettable views.
Note: Reaching Buža Bar involves quite a few steep steps, but we promise the views are well worth the climb.
Konoba Dubrava
Konoba Dubrava is a rustic countryside restaurant known for traditional Balkan cooking. The menu focuses on slow-cooked meats, simple seasonal sides, and generous portions: the kind of food meant to be shared and enjoyed slowly in a relaxed, no-rush setting (with some rakija of course!)
This is a great choice if you want an authentic, hearty meal outside the Old Town that reflects the broader culinary traditions of the region.
What to Order
Peka (Pork, Lamb, Veal, or Octopus): Slow-cooked for 3 hours under a bell with potatoes and vegetables. This must be ordered over the phone at least 3 hours in advance.
Hladna plata Dubrava: An assortment of cold meats, cheeses, olives and warm homemade bread “uštipci”. Great as a shareable starter.
Grčka salata (Greek Salad)
Panorama Restaurant
Panorama Restaurant is perched atop Mount Srđ and offers some of the most sweeping views of Dubrovnik and the Adriatic. The setting is the highlight here: expansive terraces, dramatic sunset views, and a relaxed atmosphere that feels special without being overly formal. Note: you will need to take a cable car to reach the restaurant.

Dubrovnik rožata: Traditional custard dessert, similar to crème caramel.
Don’t let the name fool you; you will not find any Indian food on the menu here. Taj Mahal is a beloved restaurant with two locations in Dubrovnik: one in the Old Town and the other a 3min walk from Rixos Hotel. The menu focuses on comforting, deeply flavorful dishes rooted in homestyle cooking, with warm hospitality and a cozy, inviting atmosphere.
This is one of the best places in Dubrovnik to experience authentic balkan food in a casual but memorable setting.

Restaurant & Bar Rudjer
Restaurant & Bar Rudjer is a modern, relaxed restaurant located inside Dubrovnik’s Old Town, set just above the famous Jesuit Staircase — known to many as the “Shame” steps from Game of Thrones. Despite its central location, it feels slightly tucked away, offering a calmer atmosphere than the busier streets below, this is what we liked most about the spot. Great spot for a lunch break to have a bite and sip of a few glasses of wine.

Holy Burek
Holy Burek is a casual, walk-up spot in Dubrovnik’s Old Town specializing in burek. Simple, fast, and incredibly satisfying, it’s a favorite for all times of the day, but especially breakfast!
This is an ideal choice if you want an authentic taste of Balkan street food without committing to a full sit-down meal.
